Miss Myanmar has safely reached Canada to claim asylum

Born and raised in Myanmar, and she graduated with a degree in psychology from Yangon University. Han Lay Miss Grand Myanmar 2020 was on the hunt by the Burmese military after she talked about her support for the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar and criticism of the Burmese junta military which has caused the loss of over 1000 Burmese citizens. She mention it, during the international pageant of Miss Grand International 2020 which was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Her speech went viral across the world and it made the news focused on what is going on in Myanmar. After the pageant, Han stayed in Thailand as a refugee, and recently she was reportedly denied entry to Thailand after her trip to Vietnam, she was held one night in the detention room.

Han has been working for the United Nations High Commissioner for the Refugees and she has just arrived in Canada where she sought political asylum. Han has recently posted about her safety reaching Canada where she will live a safe life. Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil the founder of Miss Grand International has provided Han Lay with job opportunities and helped her to reach Canada as an asylum seeker.
