Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic – María Victoria Bayo Martínez was crowned Miss World Dominican Republic 2023 by Emmy Pena Miss World Dominican Republic 2021 on Saturday, 15 April at Gran Teatro del Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros. Emmy Pena placed in the Top 40 Quarter-Finalists and won the Miss World Caribbean special award in the 70th Anniversary edition Miss World contest held in Coca-Cola Music Hall, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
María Victoria Bayo Martínez is a 23-year-old fashion model and athlete from Santiago who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and International Business from the Mother and Teacher Pontifical Catholic University at Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. She will represent the Dominican Republic at the upcoming 71st edition Miss World beauty pageant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She expressed on her social media about happiness and gratitude towards her victory: “I want to thank God, my family, and especially the Miss Mundo Dominicana organization for putting all their trust in me,” she wrote in a statement on social media. Since my childhood, I have represented Cibao in sports and academic events at the national level and with great pride. Now the commitment gets bigger and it is to represent globally the values, riches, beauty, culture, and joy of our people,” she added.
The Dominican Republic previously once won Miss World 1982 with Mariasela Álvarez who works as an architect and Television anchor who made history for her country by becoming the winner of the 32nd edition of Miss World 1982 edition at the Royal Albert Hall in London, United Kingdom. Will María Victoria Bayo Martínez become the second Dominican woman to win the coveted title of Miss World beauty pageant?
