Abena is a successful singer, songwriter, actress, and celebrity based in New York City, United States, who is proud of her Ghanaian background. She is a pageant veteran who has competed in many national and international beauty contests such as Top Model of the World Ghana 2013, Miss Universe 2014, Queen Beauty Universe 2016, Miss World America 2017, and Miss Earth 2019 before winning the Miss Grand United States title. She went on to become the first black woman to wear the prestigious golden crown of Miss Grand International 2020 held in Thailand.
