After the Press Conference of the Miss Universe Thailand 2023 which was held on 6 May 2023. A pageant veteran Veena Praveenar Singh Thakral has been appointed as Miss Universe Phuket 2023 winner. She will represent the tourism paradise island of Phuket at the upcoming 24th edition Miss Universe Thailand 2023 final competition will take place on 20 August at the True Icon Hall, Bangkok, Thailand. The new winner will be crowned with a brand new Mouawad “Light of Glory” crown in the tradition of the national pageant. Miss Universe Thailand 2022 Anna Sueangam-iam will crown her successor by the end of the event. The new winner will represent the Kingdom of Thailand in the 72nd edition of Miss Universe 2023 later this year in El Salvador. Thailand has been eagerly waiting for 35 years since their last victory with Miss Universe 1988 Porntip Nakhirunkanok (Bui Simon) who was crowned in Taipei, Taiwan. Who is Veena Praveenar Singh Thakral?
She was born and raised in Chiang Mai, Thailand to an Indian Sikh family. Veena is a 27-year-old Thai citizen who communicates in English, Thai, and Russian languages. Standing at the towering height of 178cm 5’10” tall. A graduate of Liberal Arts from Thammasat University in Bangkok. Being able to speak many languages, she can express and share their thoughts with more people, regarding her relevant advocacies. She strongly believes that beauty pageants are not only about outer beauty anymore as they provide a platform for women to showcase their talent, talk about their advocacies and become confident. Veena Praveenar Singh Thakral has been confirmed to join Miss Universe Thailand 2023.
In 2021, On the 72nd Indian Republic Day, Thai beauty queen Praveenar Singh (Veena) received her Overseas Citizenship in India. She soon took to her social media account to share the news with her fans and followers and fans and further expressed her gratitude to the Indian government. Veena got married to fellow Thai Indian businessman Mr. Harcharan Singh Thakral who is the Founder, Managing director, and Client Service Director at Aura Media. After the Miss Universe organization allowed married women and single mothers to compete in their international beauty pageant. It has opened door for Veena who has been a fan favorite since her first participation at Miss Universe Thailand 2018 contest where she finished as 2nd Runner Up then she competed again at the Miss Universe Thailand 2020 and placed 1st Runner Up to Phuket’s Amanda Obdam. She will become the first married woman to compete in Miss Universe Thailand beauty pageant after the international organization accepts married women and mothers.

Veena Praveenar Singh Thakral has been active in social work for many years through her advocacy called “Be An Ally, Not A Bully” project works towards fighting against bullying in school. She was severely bullied in high school due to her weight and not fitting into the beauty standard imposed by society. It has encouraged her to encourage people to accept people despite their differences and respect each other. Her calm confidence, soft-spoken voice, effortless energy, and friendly personality make her the perfect delegate for Thailand for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. Her passion for never giving up on her dreams and chasing her goal of becoming Miss Universe Thailand is inspiring to many people who have been rejected many times in their life on and off stage. She is a testament that hard work, dedication, and determination are the core qualities of a transformational leader. Returning three years after she participated in the Miss Universe Thailand 2020 contest, she has been working hard toward improving and developing her communication skills. Veena has a strong character, outstanding public speaking skills, and impressive advocacy background which aligns with the Transformative Leadership quality of the Miss Universe organization. She will be the perfect delegate for Thailand which has been waiting for over 30+ years to achieve the third Miss Universe crown since Porntip’s victory in 1988.
